Singer Linda Nolan reveals cancer has spread to her brain and she is preparing for ‘inevitable’

Singer Linda Nolan has revealed her cancer has spread to her brain.

The 64-year-old, who was part of girl group The Nolans, said she has now bought a wheelchair and is preparing for “the inevitable”.

She told Good Morning Britain she learnt her cancer had spread last week and she has moved in with her sister Denise due to issues with her balance.

Nolan revealed she had liver cancer in 2020, having been previously treated for breast cancer in 2006 and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.

On her latest diagnosis, Nolan said it was “very frightening because there isn’t much out there for brain cancer at the moment, apart from radiotherapy, which I’m going to be having”.

She added: “There is a new drug that’s been in use for a year for brain cancer, and they’re going to try me on that as a [chemotherapy] drug with some other treatment.”

The singer said she is “not giving up” and remains “positive” about the future.

Discussing her chemotherapy, Nolan added: “I’m [going to] lose my hair again for the fourth time. So my sister said: ‘At least you’ve got some nice wigs out of it’.

“We’re getting everything and [I’ve] bought a wheelchair, we’re getting stuff ready for the inevitable. Really scary, scary trip to be on, this one.”

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant described the latest diagnosis as a “shock”, saying: “You immediately think… [it is] the start of a long and winding road, but the hope is that [there is] this new drug, they’re hailing it as a wonder drug.

“The hope is that it will do wonders for me, please God.”

Nolan sisters Anne and Linda reveal they both have cancer

In 2013, Nolan’s sibling Bernie died from breast cancer at the age of 52.

Her sister Anne was also diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in 2020, just days apart from Linda’s diagnosis, but has since been declared cancer-free.

With the family history of the disease, Nolan said it had been “really scary” for her other sisters, including Denise, Maureen and Coleen.

The girl group – referred to as Ireland’s “First Family of Music” – had a string of hits including I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Don’t Make Waves.

In 2009, four of the sisters – Linda, Bernie, Coleen and Maureen – came together for a tour around the UK and Ireland.

They also released an album called I’m In The Mood Again.
